Movies movies movies [26 May 2006|12:38pm]
2006 is turning out to be a big year in movies. A lot of sequels, new releases and all that junk being tossed around the conversation table. Here's my insights on most of the movies that I've watched through 2006...

V for Vendetta - *****
Probably the best movie that I've seen for this year. It was more substance than sizzle, and that's not to say that the sizzle wasn't good. V for Vendetta makes you think, in that it poses a real-life possibility of the not-so-distant future. Great action sequences, great dialogue, compelling story, and characters that you can empathically care about.

Grandma's Boy - ****
What happens when you take Adam Sandler out of an Adam Sandler movie? Well, you have his co-stars do well in a hilarious romp about a frustrated Video Game Tester. It's a sophomoric romp through the lif of a pot-smoking, 30-year old game-tester and his attempt to live with his sweet Grandmother and her two roomates. Very funny, very good.

Mission Impossible 3 - ****
MI:3 was able to do what the previous MI's have not been able to do... show us a side of Ethan Hunt that we could actually care about. It also helps that Phillip Seymour-Hoffman makes for a great villain. :) Good movie all around

The Da Vinci Code - ****
One word of advice. Kindly drop the book for a while, and forget about it before watchig this movie. Many viewers were disappointed after watching it, because they read the f'n book only hours before. It's a SUSPENSE movie, and you effectively eliminate any suspense if you know what's going to happen. Good safe movie from top-to-bottom. I loved it.

X-Men 3: The Last Stand - **
Oh, it could have been so much more. Soooo much more. But unfortunately, with all the characters, all the story-arcs and all the possible stories they could have worked with, they chose to jam it all in 104 minutes... that's roughly 1:45, when they could have easily could have stretched the movie to three hours. The pace is off, and you have no emotional investment in the characters... which is why you feel a bit empty when they actually kill off several key characters in the movie. Such a disappointment. Sigh.

[ mood | awake ]

Today is the very first time in 2006 that I've gone to work before 10:00 AM. Jeez. I find it really hard to get up and get ready for the day. The bed and I are very close friends, and I seriously cannot get my body or my brain to function any time before 9:30 in the morning. I know, I know, I should change it... it's turning into a horrible habit.

Anyway. It's a bright and sunny day, and everything's on the up and up.

Have a good day y'all.

I could be a super hero... [06 Apr 2006|01:18pm]
[ mood | lolol ]

I just watched Jack TV and Stephen Lynch was on. :)

SUPERHERO
Stephen Lynch

If I could be a Superhero... I would be Awesome Man.
I'd fly around the world fighting crime, according to my awesome plan
And if I saw criminals trying to lie
Hurting other people and making them cry
I'd haul 'em off to jail in my Awesome Van
'Cause I would be Awesome Man.

If I could be a superhero, I would be Drug-Free boy
Telling the world of the evils of drugs, and all of the lives they destroy
I'd take all the junkie-ies getting so high
With their needles and bongs and their sticks made of tai
I'd burn them alive as I squeal with joy
'Cause I would be Drug-free Boy

If I could be a superhero, I'd be Immigration Dude
I'd send all the foreigners back to their homes for eating up all of our food
And taking our welfare and best jobs to boot
Like landscaping, dish-washing, picking our fruit
I'd pass alot of laws to get rid of their brood
'Cause I'd be immigration dude

If I could be a superhero, would you be Justice Guy
Making sure people get what they deserve, especially women who lie
Like if a wife left her husband with three kids and no job
And ran off to f---ing hawaii with some doctor named "Bob"
You'd skin them and drain them of blood 'till they die...especially Bob
Then you would be Justice Guy

Or you could be more subtle, I didn't mean to be vague
Give her the mad cow disease, Let him die of the plague
As long as they suffered for their terrible lie...especially Bob
Yes then you would be Justice Guy

Yes Then you would be
A superhero like
Meeeeeeeeeee

The Only Verdict Is Vengeance. [21 Mar 2006|12:45pm]
Just watched V for Vendetta last night. The trailer was, as most everyone thought... HORRIBLE. But I watched the movie, and well.. IT BLEW ME AWAY. And that RARELY happens. Jeez.

THIS IS THE BENCHMARK MOVIE OF 2006. EVERY MOVIE THAT COMES OUT NEXT, I HAVE TO COMPARE TO 'V FOR VENDETTA'.

"This visage, no mere veneer of vanity, is it vestige of the vox populi, now vacant, vanished, as the once vital voice of the verisimilitude now venerates what they once vilified. However, this valorous visitation of a by-gone vexation, stands vivified, and has vowed to vangquish these venal and virulent vermin vanguarding vice and vouchsafing the violently vicious and voracious violation of volition.

"The only verdict is vengeance; a vendetta, held as a votive, not in vain, for the value and veracity of such shall one day vindicate the vigilant and the virtuous. Verily, this vichyssoise of verbiage veers most verbose vis-à-vis an introduction, and so it is my very good honor to meet you and you may call me V."

[ mood | ecstatic ]

It's 2:41 AM, and I'm still in a daze.

I watched the WWE RAW LIVE Tour, Feb. 25 event. Amidst all the fucking coup shit and all the government crap... they pushed through with the event. Yay!

My day:

10:00 AM - Left Pque, expecting a lot of shit on the streets. We brought a ton of signs EDDIE LIVES 4EVER, WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!, HHH IS GOD, CENA SUCKS, CENA RULES, FO-LEY!, I AM COOL, SIDESHOW BOB... etc.

10:45 AM - Arrived at Araneta, saw about 2 dozen fans already in line. Me, my brother and Martin decided to just go around, maybe hang in Gateway. Lalalala.

12:00 NN - Went around, Just ate lunch at Gateway... went back to Araneta, and saw the people double. So there we were, 4 hours away from the event, with about 30 people, holding a bunch of signs. What do we do? We ask one of the guards to take our picture!

2:00 PM - TWO HOURS IN LINE. FUCK. AND THEY FINALLY LET US IN! BUT WAIT! THEY DON'T LET US INSIDE THE ARENA YET. THEY MAKE US WAIT IN THE HALLWAYS! FFFFFUUUUUUCKKKKK. We found a guy who had a replica belt. I posed. Yay. Check out the people waiting to get in.

3:00 PM - After waiting in the halls for an hour, they let us in... FINALLY! We had these shots taken.

4:00 PM - SHOW STARTS! DIDN'T GET ANY GOOD SHOTS, we were sitting a bit far away. As for details go to www.lordsofpain.net for the results. But I did get this... and it blew me away... (by me, I mean the ENTIRE FUCKING ARENA. TRIPLE H IS GOD!)

6:30 PM - TIRED. EXHAUSTED. NO VOICE. SHIT. THAT WAS THE BEST DAY OF MY LIFE.

THANK YOU WWE!!!

Can't wait to go back to La Union on the 30th. Vacation, for at least two days. Yeesh. I'm making it a point to head off to Baguio and buy cheap stuff.

Christmas sucks this year. Blech. I want to get the entire thing over with.

I cannot, for the life of me, feel Christmas coming. It's only a couple of weeks away, and I feel... nothing. That says a lot about me, doesn't it? :(

BTW, I just bought an 256 MB MP3 Player/FlashDrive/FMRadio/VoiceRecorder/Flashlight device. Yay. My own gift for me. And far, far cheaper than an iPOD.

A hundred days had made me older
Since the last time that I saw your pretty face
A thousand lies had made me colder
And I don’t think I can look at this the same

But all the miles that separate
They disappear now when I’m dreaming of your face

I’m here without you baby
But your still on my lonely mind
I think about you baby
And I dream about you all the time
I’m here without you baby
But your still with me in my dreams
And tonight it’s only you and me

- Here Without You, 3 Doors Down

Oh and I found this...

Do You Know Where The WWE Is Headed On Feb?

THEY'RE COMING, BABY! :P After 10 years, they're coming back to the P.I.! Whoohoo! Ringside tickets, here I come!

Viva La Raza [15 Nov 2005|11:56am]
[ mood | crushed ]

Yesterday, I was just stunned. Completely stunned. I couldn't believe that he was gone. One of the most entertaining performers in the Wrestling industry was taken from us too early.

He battled his demons, his alcoholism, his pain killer addiction. He overcame them all. he lost everything and managed to win everything back one after another, his family, his life, his profession. Wrestlemania XX will always be etched in my mind as the highlight of his career... finally reaching the top after being at the bottom.

He cheated death when his car crashed and doctors told him that he would never walk, let alone wrestle again in 1998. He proved them wrong. He was addicted to alcohol and painkillers and everyone thought that he would never be respected in the industry again. He proved them wrong. Four years of sobriety from alcohol and drugs, and he still ends up dead inside his hotel room through a heart attack. It's not fair, not FUCKING fair.

You always want to think that the good guy will always win, that he'll live happily ever after. But life just puts you back in place, and says that there is no "happily ever after".

It's hard to put into words how I feel for Eddie Guerrero. After all, I'm just a fan. But he was a real-life comeback story... he fell to the depths of hell and rose above it all to bask at the top of the business.

I'll miss you Eddie. WE'LL miss you, a lot. :(

Tribute Video (highly recommended): No Words.

I'm glad Pinoy bands are back on the rise.

The vacuous night steps aside to give meaning
To Gemini's dreaming
The moon on it's back,
And the seemingly veiled room's lit by the same star.

Let me know if I'm doing this right
Let me know if my grip's too tight
Let me know if I can stay all of my life
Let me know if dreams can come true
Let me know if this one's yours too

'Cause I see it
And I feel it
Right here
And I feel you right here
